    Hello all

I was wondering if I could get any assistance with my HP Total Care Advisor on my laptop. I have looked almost everywhere on the internet to no avail. :(

Basically, I was running all the system updates, as I had not done any in a while, and there was this critical security update for the HP Quick Launch Button. So I went ahead and installed it, restarted my laptop, went to open HP Advisor again to install the rest of the updates, and there is still a notification up to install the HP Quick Launch Button update again. I thought re-installing it would solve the problem but it doesn't seem to be the case - I just get a dialogue box pop up saying it cannot find a set-up file or something..

Does anyone know how I can fix this so my computer knows what updates it needs and which it doesn't?

Thanks for all your help, I'm sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section/forum or this has been posted before or anything, but replies will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers! :)

To be honest with you, HP total care advisor is useless. You dont even need it. I suggest you uninstall it

You can either get the latest updates from HP update, Windows update or the latest drivers from the HP Website

Thanks for the advice (thought no-one was going to reply!), I guess you are right. It is lacking quite a lot and is slow in loading up and all. Norton Antivirus and Windows Update is all I need really. ;)

And be careful about installing device drivers via Windows/Microsoft Update, too. I only install them manually from the device manufacturer's website.

FWIW, I uninstalled all the HP software except the QuickLaunch Buttons.

If anything is making things load up slow its the Norton. Do yourself a big favor and dump that as well. Its a gigantic resource hog. I also recommend using the norton uninstall tool from symantecs web site.. sometimes the norton uninstaller screws up windows.
