Hey guys I just got the HP touchsmart and I absolutely love it in every way except a few:
First and foremost, it's an AMD, and while I don't wanna spark up an argument, I don't like AMD personally, I like Intel, but hey I still got it so whatever, a processor is a processor, it does the job. Secondly, the keyboard, wireless button, mouse on/off button, and volume buttons will sometimes refuse to work. I'll turn it on and the screen works fine, the mouse itself works fine, but the keyboard and other buttons don't. I restart and still get the same problem. The only thing I can do is do a hard reset (battery removal then hold power button down for 30sec). I've checked it out on HPs website, and A LOT of people are having the same problem as me. Does anyone here know what's going on? And also, there's a loud whine coming NOT from the processor side, but rather from the part where I plug in the power cord. What is that???
Oh and I really dislike the international keyboard, but I'll get used to it. But yeah basically, does anyone know why the keyboard doesn't work sometimes and what that whine is? It's mainly the keyboard problem I wanted to ask about, cause if it's a recurring problem (which it sorta is), I'll just return it and rethink my decision.
Sorry about the long post guys, thanks a lot in advance.

The keyboard issue is related to the bios, some of the tx2500's are also afflicted by this issue but it has never happened on mine. AFAIK, the issue stems from the keyboard being disabled when in slate mode and the PC going into shut down or sleep/hibernation mode in this state and waking up in notebook mode. Try putting the system in slate mode and then back to laptop mode while the rebooring the system. This has worked for some people without the need to completely reset the system.
HP TouchSmart tablet pc problems anyone?
