Why does the US store allow laptops to be customised when the UK one doesn't?

Not to mention we get a limited selection of products... I really want one of the new HP Pavilion dv6000 series laptops, but the two configurations available over here both have features which the other doesn't, e.g. dv6021ea has bluetooth, webcam but the dv6095ea (which is £795 inc.VAT!!!) doesn't but has better processor, more inbuilt memory...

Why can't we in the UK customise our machines?

P.S. I tried ordering from the US store but they don't ship outside America.

I'm really angry right now, as the dv6000 (customised) would be real good value for money.

They probably don't want to deal with all the customs paperwork that would be involved in shipping each configure-to-order notebook from the factory in China to all those different countries. America is the biggest market and relatively easier to deal with (we're basically a free trade zone of 300 million people) so we get the CTO option.

I've eBay'd stuff to buyers outside of America and two out of three times the customs services of the respective countries have ripped open the boxes and nailed the buyers with heavy taxes. I don't know why y'all put up with it, but there y'go.
