There are almoust twice as many HP users then Dell on this site and this number gets bigger and bigger.

As somebody who's been debating between Dell and HP for a while I've made a few observations.
Old Dells - Far superior to old HP in terms of build contstruction, QA, keyboards, ect. I know a professor with a dell laptop from 1996 and it still works great.
New Dells - Giant shells, flimsy plastic, bad QA. HP on the other hand continues to improve the quality of it's notebooks both in build and in terms of visual style.
HP seems to also have the upper hand in terms of price/performance. Even with student discounts, HP still gives you more for you money while still balancing quality. I was leaning toward averatec, and while they've matured as a company quite a bit, I still noticed a few quality issues in the models I saw and read about. -
Yeah, I'm thinkin' right on the same track with sublimation. HP is getting better and Dell is... not.
If I were to look at a Dell, I'd probably get a Latitude, just because their alloy cases currently seem to be a bit more durable than the plastic Inspiron cases. Our property manager has an Inspiron 5150. It runs fine, but nothing special. The build quality is not up there with my zv5000z. His wireless connectivity is definitely not as good as mine. Also, the Latitude has gold wiring and the Inspiron has tin wiring (never knew this until I found out from a Dell tech last month). One thing I do like about the Inspirons is the optional snap covers for some of them. The Burlwood and Red Lava quicksnap covers look pretty cool. Even though this is purely cosmetic, I think it would good if some other companies had a feature like this - a very easy way of customizing the look of your notebook.
Cheers,
Stevo

ya.. hp is da bomb! they are making very quality products now. Not to mention they look sweet. They are 0wning desktop replacement market @ the moment. Other venders have the ultraportable market 0wned.
I think apple is the strongest though. They are against the whole intel-based venders & still doing very well.
HP USERS WOW
