Has anyone seen a problem with HP Update offering the same downloads...sometimes repeated in the same session?

As part of my ongoing BSOD issues with the TX1304, I ran HP Update to see if any new drivers came out. It offered up the Nvidia drivers.

I downloaded the 83 meg package and installed it. A few days later, the same driver was offered up. A few days after that, I ran HP Update again and the program suggested two downloads...but both were the same Nvidia driver.

Stop using HP update, its useless. Windows update can do the same thing.

I dont recommend you download drivers from hp update unless your having issues

    >>Windows update can do the same thing.<<

While HP Update has issues, it isn't nearly as bad as using Windows Update for drivers. Windows Update provides crap drivers. If you aren't going to use HP Update, go directly to the vendor's website and download them there.

On my desktop Windows up date keeps telling me I need to download Nvidea drivers from way back in 2001. That's right. The Nvidea Website has the drivers from May 2006. Hee Hee.

During February, MS Update released new Conextant (sp?) audio drivers that killed the audio on a huge number of computers because the driver was bad.

I dled it and my computer said "No audio output device detected". Then I downloaded the driver off hp's website and all was well again. No more installing driver updates from windows update for me.

Yes. I have a new dv6775us laptop (14 days old) and I loaded the latest driver (and Ver) from the HP Download site for the RealTek audio as shown for this PC. HP Update insists on telling me a new driver should be loaded even though it is an older driver. I simply now ignore the request since I have been looping installing what Hp update says and the latest driver. I kept the latest driver indicated on HP’s download site.

The only HP software remaining on my notebook is the HP Quick Launch Buttons.

I let windows update download the 'new' audio driver and I lost sound as well. Downloading the driver from HP did not help. I had to do a system restore. I also right clicked the update from MS and clicked hide update.
