    I am using hp dv2117tx,
I have created recovery disc when hard-drive has only 2 drives c: and d: recovery drive.
Now I want to created other partitions too... if I create a partition f: to hold data and other software installation,
will I be able to use the same recovery discs in future?
Will the recovery discs only format c: and will keep intact the remaining drives and data when I try only recovery option ?

When you recover, it erases your entire hard drive, and "images" it back to it's original state (when you created the recovery discs), so any changes you've made since then will be lost.

As Talin already mentioned, an OS reload totally reinstates the drive to its original condition.

recovery gives us 2 options, simple recovery and format complete hard-drive,
i thought simple recovery will format only c: .....
so if i have to use the partitions now on words, i won't be able to use the recovery disc for formating c: containing OS only.... is it?
My dealer has not given me any other OS disc, so how can format C: drive only with other partitions remaining in tact?

    Issue the following command:
    Start Icon>Run>CMD

Issuing the command Format C: /? at a command prompt will give you a list of Format options (switchs) like Format C: /FS:NTFS which will format the C: drive with the NTFS file system.

Actually by "format" C: I mean "repair or reinstall OS" on C:, is it possible without any OS disc?
