Me too. But it doesn't exist, as far as I know. There's no drivers on HP's site or FTP, and Windows Update doesn't have any for Waikiki. Conexant doesn't provide drivers to end users, so they're no help. The driver included with Vista finds the microphone but it doesn't work, and after resuming from standy there's no sound. Hopefully HP and Conexant know this and are trying to get an updated driver out.

Jadedraverla - Does your DV2000 have any sound issues? I have a strange problem where I cant seems to lower the volume and even if i plug in headphone on speaker.. the sound still come out fullblast on laptop speaker
Spent a day trying to fix this and I am out of idea.. HP told me to flash my bios and reinstall quickplay and still not solved -
abhi84 -- Yeah, there's a lot of sound issues with "Waikiki" codec systems. The Windows driver is junk and there's no other option right now.
-
Nevermind I fixed it
-
if i uninstall the old conextant audio or dont install it, my comp gets blue screen at start up. i need the new one to fix the lag bug with the old conextant driver
-
My M$ version of the drivers found the mic and it works as crappy as it always did. It has never worked very well at all. Its just not sensitive enough to pick up sound like it should be. Im with Hp Fan too. I want some good solid drivers that delivers sound like they should and no lag. As well as some good solid video drivers. Pathetic they had this for a few months and havent done much with it.
-
Conexant is notorious for their bad/nonexistant drivers. I wouldn't hold my breath for good drivers from them anytime soon. They NEVER released XP x64 drivers, so the fact that they have bothered to create a (barely functioning) driver for Vista x64 is at least a step in the right direction. The fact that all the HP systems shipping with Vista are using the "Venice" codec instead of the "Waikiki" one used on some models previously has me worried they aren't going to even bother writing working drivers for those of us with that device. Hopefully HP will get on them, as they sold the systems as Vista capable and are providing Express Upgrades on them.
By the way, if you're using 32-bit Vista, you can try using your old XP drivers for the audio device and see if those work. -
Yeah but we all know how HP is too though dont we lol. Although I guess I really cant complain. I got a nice new laptop out of them after my warranty expired cause they cuoldnt repair my old one. Sad though the one I chose has issues of its own. LOL minor stuff luckily though
-
when we uninstall the driver the lagg went away. but sound quality suck -
ok i can not get my hp dv9074cl webcam to work i have vista x64 ultimate plz help i have tried many drivers
-
-
yes i tired the drivers on the main page. i get a code 10 in my device manager. maybe im just installing the drivers wrong..
-
code 10 seems to be a usb error maybe i need better nivida chipset drivers or better x64 usb drivers for my dv9074cl w/ vista 64 ultimate
-
moxmoss -- I'm not sure what's preventing your webcam from working. A Code 10 error generally just means that the device cannot be started. With the webcam that usually means that you are using an incompativle driver. The one I linked to at http://www.mediafire.com/?1yjahnjwkji generally corrects that error rather than causes it. If that's just not working you try updating the device manually from device manager and directing it to the /Webcam/Misc5/x64 directory to get the driver.
If that still doesn't work, then I don't know what the problem would be. -
Just had online chat with HP rep who said that most if not all drivers for my DV2000 will be on HP Site by mid-Feb
So I guess now we just have to play the waiting game -
Cant trust em lol. They said to begin with the end of January.
-
one word..........lies
-
its still not working.. USB\VID_05CA&PID_1870&REV_0100 thats the driver it wants i think so i dont know.. any one have a hp dv9000 laptop webcam working on vista 64
-
Well, that's the problem. The only device ID that the driver works for is
USB\VID_0c45&PID_62c0&MI_00, which is what most HP notebooks seem to have. Odd that yours is different. It could be awhile before that driver is made available -- kinda like the "Waikiki" audio codec driver I need. Neither seems to be used on the new models any longer. -
hey, do u guys know where the wireless antenna is located in the dv2000?
i think its somewhere in the lid. -
Nice post Jadedraverla
Just installed Vista 32bit on my HP Pavilion dv2130, and got the same symtomps as you, regarding sound.
Now that I know I've got the Waikiki version, I'll be checking back here frequently.
Thanks! -
The antenna are up the slide of the screen. One on each side if memory serves.

GeorgeH and other with "Waikiki" audio codecs -- I did get an email I sent to HP tech support forwarded on to the driver team yesterday, so maybe I'll here something in the next couple of days on that. Also, I sent an email to Conexant's driver team requesting a Vista driver for their codec, so hopefully I'll get a driver from somewhere soon.
I agree with Mr. Wonderful as far as when HP "should" get their collective act together with drivers. Obviously, they would want to get the Express Upgrade discs sent out with all the drivers that onewould need -- so that's likely become their new internal timetable. Of course, before that their internal timetable was prior to the consumer release, and before that it was around Jan. 15. So, they seem to keep pushing back their own internal deadline every two weeks. We'll see if they make it this time. -
Good job!
btw, found out that if you disable, then enable the soundcard in your device manager you'll be hearing sound from the speakers.
But the volumecontrol doesn't work properly, and if you plugin a headset, it won't mute the speakers.. -
Jade, I just recently bought a dv2213X. It came with a GeForce Go 7200 and 160 GB HDD. But the thing is, the WEI rating I get is 2.0. Is that right? The subscores for my graphics and gaming graphics were 2.0 and 2.6 respectively. Shouldn't a GeForce Go 7200 produce a much better WEI rating than that? Is this my driver problem or something?
-
hpuser -- your driver is probably to blame. Using newer Nvidia drivers (I'm using 100.54 drivers and modded inf from www.laptopvideo2go.com) I get a 3.2 graphics score and 2.6 for 3d graphics. That's still a pretty terrible score (worse than the Intel GMA950 gets) but either the score just isn't that useful or Nvidia's drivers are terrible.
It's also possible that running on battery power can cause your score to drop. Be sure to run the test when plugged into AC power. -
I get a 3.2 and 2.6 as well. I'm really hoping that this can be fixed through better drivers.
-
Jade, I'm currently using a 32 bit OS, would I still be able to download and install the 100.54 driver you're using? If not, and if its not too much to ask, would you recommend a driver for me to download instead?
-
There are both 32bit and 64bit versions of 100.59 on www.laptopvideo2go.com
-
hpuser2000 -- Laptopvideo2go has that driver for Vista 32-bit and 64-bit. They do also have 100.59 driver, but since that was really just an update for the 8800 series, I didn't mess with that. 100.54 was the last driver Nvidia released for all cards.
Whichever you download from there, be sure to follow the directions and download the modded inf to support notebook graphics cards. -
So it has the 100.54 "forceware" for both 64 and 32 bit? I don't know if I'm being a bit noobish here, but I only seem to be able to find the 64bit one (i.e. the x64 vista one). Am i able to just dl that one and install that on my 32 bit OS?
-
hpuser2000 -- click on forums, then Release 100 drivers, then click the thread for whichever driver you want. 100.54 or 100.59 should work fine and both are available in 32-bit.
-
Yep, I think I've found it. Thanks Jade.
Just one quick question though...It usually requires us to uninstall the current driver...is this necessary? If so, would you be able to give me a few brief instructions to help because im struggling to make my way around the new vista interface. X( -
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=12617
is the link for the 32bit. make sure you download the inf file too and place it in the unzipped folder before installing -
hpuser -- you shouldn't need to uninstall your previous driver in Vista. The driver's update function should take care of everything.
Let me know if you have any problems. -
Alright, sounds good. I'm currently at work atm...so I'll give it a try at home. Thanks for your help Jade...was really good
Oh and thanks byrds6 for the info too! -
NP at all. I try to help when I can. Im not genius but folks have helped me so I try to return the favor
-
Jade, I just installed 105.4 for 32 bit via have-disk method and it works a charm. Thanks
-
glad to hear, hpuser2000
To everyone, HP's postings to their ftp have slowed to a crawl. Nothing major to post since Friday. There was one driver people may need posted earlier today. I'll update the main post later this afternoon. Hopefully, there will be some more drivers posted by then. -
And nothing new about the 'Waikiki' drivers, I guess?
-
No the only truly new driver today is a Conexant HD Audio codec, but it's yet another variation, for dv5000 and dv8000 systems... not Waikiki. I'm waiting till tonight to post, hoping they get more up than just that.
-
Is anyone's FireWire Port working?
-
theaznidiot -- good question. Vista installed default drivers for the device, but I'd have to get my camcorder back from my parents in order to test the functionality. Anyone else have a Firewire device?
I was a betatester for Vista and don't recall having any issues with the firewire port, but I very rarely used it. What system model do you have, and what device are you trying to use that isn't working? -
I have an external harddrive connected to my mini-firewire port and its working fine on Vista
-
Just an update: I posted all the new drivers I've caught to the first post. Nothing too exciting today, and no "Waikiki" audio drivers, unfortunately, but it's as complete as HP's FTP site is at this point.
Edit: Just thought it was cool that this thread has now been viewed over 5,000 times. I'm glad I could provide a good number of people with drivers as HP slowly gets their act together.
Now for my editorial rant:
What the hell is wrong with computer companies and software designers? I was a Vista beta-tester and have been running Vista for over a year. Their have also been puvlic beta releases and the code was finalized at the beginning of November. No one in the computer industry didn't know the status of Vista development. It was posted everywhere for years now. Why do certain manufacturers (HP, Sony, and others) seem shocked that Vista has been released, and that people want to update their systems to it. Their marketing departments sure as hell knew it was coming -- they ran commercials like crazy, readied systems for the launch, etc. But certain companies driver/software development teams now act like they had no idea this HUGE new OS release was coming, and are only working out compatibility issues now that the consumer release has already happened. This is beyond rediculous, in my opinion. My battery's dying so I'll stop ranting, but I feel better. -
You say it brother lol. I have thought this since the begining. Technically Ive said this about propiatary systems since computers really came out. Its retarded to lock your customers in to only getting drivers from you. Especially since they know they arent going to really support their customers like they should. I could however go find my own drivers from the manufacturer of the device if they didnt make the system like they did. Sad isnt it. Even when there isnt money envolved they try and lock you into only coming to them for anything but then turn a deaf ear to you when you want something.
-
Has anyone who had just bought a Pre-Installed HP Vista Laptop found that the vista drivers already need to be updated with ones on here?
-
This is exactly what Apple does with the iPod line and their Macs. They rule with an iron fist to ensure compatibility and it works very well.
I am a PC person to the core, but I do love the way Apple works and how stable it is. -
I have SOME respect for Apple, but its not like their business model would work for anyone else. If you make the hardware, then making an OS that's designed to only run on that hardware can't be anywhere near as difficult as creating an OS to run on 90-some-odd percent of the world's computers. You also get to package anything you want with the OS, because no governments are suing you for antitrust violations.
I also HATE their new Vista-bashing mentality. They took the time to create several annoying ads bashing Vista, and then to make sure that upgrading to Vista was as painful as their commercials made it out to be, they never bothered making iTunes fully compatible with Vista before release. So, yes, upgrading to Vista is a pain, especially if you've bought music from the iTunes store. And somehow that's Microsoft's fault.
