Competitors of mine or not I gotta give credit when its due and it certainly is due here! The reviews are in and the specs/tests and photos are all up and my god is it stunning (though I imagine everyone will catch up soon I know I will!) definetly see the voodoo influence, hp is very fortunate I think out of all these buyouts (dell/alienware, overdrive etc) they got the best deal

Well my opinion is, not to get HP Notebooks if you need a Video Card. I personally have had bad experience with my dv9000 series notebook. Running 1.8ghz core2duo, 2gb ram 667mhz, 160gb hd, geforce 7600 (256mb) [discrete][They said when I bought it that it was a dedicated gfx, then 3months later after the gfx started going from 160-250fps to 10-25fps in css, I was a little on the otherside thinking it wasn't, so i asked them on their support chat and they said it wasn't.]
Now after 3 times sending them it to get the gfx fixed, and 1600$ out of my 15 year olds pocket(1 wasted yaer of saving) this shows that I will not go to anything other than Dell... Dell I feel makes solid PC's, hell, my desktop I got in 2004? is still packin 150fps in CSS. (3.0ghz p4, 2.5gb ram, 80gb hd, 8600gts oc2. Yeah I upgraded my video card from a 6800, but it didn't make much of an increase of performance since my PSU is stuck at 305watt and I'm am not allowed to upgrade because of parents views on pc's, and because I am in the hole from my laptop STILL after almost a year. lol -
In my opinion, the HP Blackbird has a few problems which still need to be ironed out. Hopefully Hp gets their act together soon and fix the corssfire and sli problems. Once that is done, it will be a much better system. Obviously, the hp blackbird sells because of its looks.
The sli and crossfire issues on teh blackbird have been a daunting problem from the start, but that is because no other manufacturer wants to sell a computer sli and crossfire ready. Unfrotunately the problem was not easy to solve and still has some problems. Just take a look at any post on the Voodoo Mutthaboards. It may seem that every post is about problems and complaints, but that is because people who do not have problems will not complain.
I have not liked the whole hp acquistion, and I really think that hp has destroyed Voodoo. I did not like the change which occured. I bought a Voodoo because one gets a sense of connection with the system through the sales and the people which worked there. Unfortunately after hp bought them, the amount of production must increase, and thus the time and connections with the consumer must suffer. I had a problem with an older voodoo laptop I had, and when I called tech support it was like calling Dell. There was no striaght answer. All i get was, sir that motherboard will run you 200-400, or maybe $500-600. And then I would get, I will contact you later today about it. After three reminders the next week, I got fed up an called ryan and got an answer.
When I bought my U709 before the HP acquisition, I would call and talk to the people working directly on my system. Well times are a changing, and now their support desk is absolutely useless. I just email the people who were at Voodoo when I bought my system.
The blackbird has some problems, and if you want to checlk out the problems and some of the resolved answers, you should check out the mutthaboards. I have made a resilient effort in helping the blackbird owners with their problems, with about 200 posts. Whether its the bios which fails to boot, corrupt cd drives, vista issues, the bios resetting itself, or just graphics problems in general, it is a pain in the neck to have to continually answer the same problems. As of now, all but the crossfire and disappearing cd drive seem to have been fixed.

HP is not a sucky company. How come they are one of the biggest PC sellers if they are so sh*t? Maybe their tech support is crap, but HP is relatively good brand. And it's not people because post about their problems that the product sucks. How many people posted in that section on your forums? 50? 100? 200?
HP has sold thousands of Blackbirds, so a couple of complaints doesn't mean that it sucks. If someone doesn't have a problem they wont complain, that's why all you hear are complaints. Keep that in mind. -
otaku! wassup? how's business?
K-Tron... wassup??? lots of emotion there... lol
i'd understand it coming from someone who spent their hard earned cash on a blackbird and then things gone sour... but kinda surprised there...
i'd like to have a Blackbird case... lol and a old omen case also... he he he -
Sorry that it seemed so harsh, had a busy week. I really have to monitor and reread before posting about my opinions. I have to realize that these forums are open to the public and I cant go bash a system I dont have.
Sorry about that, the post has been fixed

it is kinda disheartening to see so many having issues with their machines.
well, i'm just curious... if a MB is made for SLI, why run Crossfire on it?
why open the can of worms?
times like this, it makes me wonder, new tech vs stability/reliability...? -
Yes, very disheartening. I sometimes wonder why they even tried to pull crossfire on the sli board. It is like fixing something if its not borken. Unfortunately their quick little hotfix causes more problems than it fixes. Its too bad, it would be a nice system if it could naturally support crossfire and sli.
I was really hoping for it to support Serial attached SCSI or Fibre Channel, that is where all of the fast harddrives are. 15K rpm's would make that thing really fly like a bird.
The bird has landed and ruffles his wings.
(Only King and I will understand this. You have to be a member of the mutthaboards to get it. {TYSH})

most of the time, folks who have problems tend to make a lot of noise... want their issue to be widely noticed to gain support of the public and of the "media" if it applies...

True their shoppers may not know this, but the management in walmart is outstanding and so is HP. Look at their business! They have grown and are trying to bring value for customers.
They are both great companies
