can i remove this from my machine. Is it necessary when I just use windows based wireless finder? I do have bluetooth, but this wireless assistant appears to only tell me it's on. And frankly, the blue light is enough to tell me it's on.

I removed it, as mentioned in my review, for much the same reason. All it seemed to do is duplicate the light over the button and tell me "Wireless is on" or "Wireless is off" and hog way too many resources for such a useless thingy!

If you got builtin bluetooth, Does the button enable/disable both wireless and bluetooth?

I believe the Wireless asst, allows you enable/disable wireless or bluetooth individually.

I have a built in bluetooth together with the wireless. I use a cable to connect and so I disabled the wireless card. I found out that the button on the laptop turns on/off both the bluetooth and the wireless (obvious) and in my case only the bluetooth as my wireless is disabled. Hence, I removed the wireless assistant; pressing a button does not take any of my RAM :)

You can remove it, but I'd recommend just disabling some of it from startup (a la the "Speed up your computer" guide in the guide's section). Some of them are useful - like the HP update and total care - for finding approved drivers and troubleshooting.

k, so besides update and total care, the rest can be burned?
