    Hi.
I have a HP XE3-GF and the HDD (Hitachi DK23CA-20) is making a constant and irritating noise. I've installed HDDLifePro and it tells me that the HDD temperature raises until 60, 65ÂșC and is in "Urgent Overheat".
I've also noticed that the fan never works. But if I use HP tools (F10 on boot) and make the Fan Test, it works ok.
What seems to be the problem????

    Sould I buy another HDD? like a 40GB 5400rpm....

    Tx in advance
    Salman

Well, the irritating noise usually means your hard drive could be nearing death, and I recommend you get all your info backed up on the system as quickly as possible (if not done so already), incase the hard drive was to crash, and possibly lose all your data.

    I am new here.
Hope you have solved the HDD/heat problem. HP-XE3 is famous for being hot and heat is the biggest enemy of all laptops. Mind you, all CPU/HDD generate heat and you are not alone. If you have not already done, you should run out and buy a laptop.cooler from eBay or BestBuy. It is around $30 and is the biggest laptop saver in the world.
