I have a almost 2 year old HP ZE2000 that does not power on anymore. I have replaced the power cord and the dc jack inside the laptop itself. My questions are do you have to have a battery in the laptop to turn it on via ac power or does a bad a battery that wont charge prevent the laptop from powering on? Thanks!

    Nope.
    Sounds like a bad mainboard.
