Heya guys.. im new here and new into the notebook stuff.. but im looking for a laptop for recreational and school use. I will be using this notebook for an all-purpose kinda use.. I've been looking at laptops around the around of $1500 Canadian and have been looking towards the HP ZV5320CA.. I was just wondering how reliable HP notebooks are since i havent purchased anything from them before.. i was wondering if someone could help me answer these questions..

    How is the service support?
How is the quality/reliability of the notebooks?
and lastly.. if anyone knows or has tried the ZV5320CA, how is this notebook?

    Thanks Alot!

Service and support: about as bad as everyone else.

Quality: better than average. My zv5000z was put together well.

ZV5320CA: yuck. P4 CPU (and a slow one at that), shared memory video (s-l-o-w). Get one of the other ZV5000 series variants that has an Athlon 64 CPU (better, longer battery life) and nVidia GeForce 440 Go 64MB dedicated memory video (not fast but better than shared memory).

Ah, I see the problem. HP doesn't sell AMD chips in the Canadian ZV5000 series. No problem, the equivalent series from Compaq (R3000) does. See the R3310CA (Athlon XP-M 3000+) and R3320CA (Athlon 64 3000+) notebooks. There are other similar models too, I see Futureshop lists some.

compaq and hp are now the same company the only reason they keep both is because people like you have had bad experience with one or the other so this way since most people don't know much about them will consider only HP or only Compaq
