I recently bought a HP ZV6203 with an Athlon 64 3200 processor. The system states that the speed of the processor is 1.73 GHz, while the speed specified in the product description is allegedly of 2.0 GHz. Does anyone out there knows why this is happening?

For a long time WinXP's speed display was broken. What does MobileMeter say your speed is when the CPU is under load? CPU-Z is very useful too.

If you're running on battery power the max speed is set a bit lower (makes a dramatic difference in power consumption), but 1.73GHz doesn't correspond to any PowerNOW! settings.

Not sure why it would be saying 1.73 ghz. That sounds like a pentium M. It would be normal if it said 1.0 ghz due to the powernow! stepping down the speed when it is not needed to be faster. It should bump up to 2.0ghz whenever the power is needed. Good luck!
