I ordered an HP ZV6000 from Costco. It is already 2 weeks since I ordered. Costco is saying that HP is waiting on parts. They expect this to be shipped in another 2 to 3 weeks only [!] . When I ordered, there was no mention of any delay in shipping. When I call Costco, they say that it was a mistake on their website to not display the shipping time, but they say they are helpless. Serveral times they asked me if I would like to cancel the order [xx(] .
Has anybody got their laptops (ZV6000) from Costco yet?
-
Nope, and this news is making me even more angry. when did you order yours? I ordered on the 14th and im hoping its not going to take 2-3 weeks.
-
I ordered mine from costco and it said 4-6 weeks when i ordered it
-
I ordered mine 4/16 from Office Depot. Still 'in process.' I probably should have called by now to see what's going on.
-
My status is "In Process". Supposedly, they have it now and are waiting to ship it to me. I ordered on the 19th.
-
but the invoice after purchasing said 4-6 weeks and then had a shipping date of 7-10 days.. i dunno, as long as i get all my pixels [8D]

I ordered from Costco on the 14th. I was quoted 4 to 6 weeks. It's now been two, so hopefully I'm half way there!
I bought the pre-configured one, not the build-your-own. -
Precisely...Pixels is what everyone should steer their attention/worries/fear to...

When I ordered on the wee hours of 4/12, there was no mention of 4-6 weeks. On 4/13 I saw that was added (4-6 weeks). That was my beef with Costco. But they say they are helpless. Even on the Order/Invoice there is no mention of shipping dates [V]
-
I ordered the pre-config from Costco on 4/10. The web page said
15 to 20 working days when I ordered. Next Friday will be 20 working days.
Order history has said in-process all this time so that doesn't
really mean anything. Someone in another forum said they had recieved theirs, but never received an email with shipping info and the Costco page never showed it had been shipped.
They had called Costco and were told to check the Credit Card you used for the purchase. When it gets charged, your laptop has shipped.
Also instead of the laptop shipping directly to the enduser from China, like the Office Depot Orders, they are shipped to a Costco distribution warehouse, and then to the enduser by UPS, thus adding more time to your order.
The 1 plus for orderiing from Costco though, is the 6 month, no questions asked return policy, so I'll sit and wait it out, and whine just a little.
My main gripe is that Office Depot orders seem to have gotten priority over Costco orders by HP.
-
I just checked the Sunday paper and found either a zv6000 or a r40000 in every computer store ad. I'm wondering if I should cancel with Costco and place my order with OD or some other place. I would probably receive it sooner and could get a double layer DVD for about the same price.
I'm gonna run down to OD and get the details on this sale. The ad is a little vague. -
OK, I configured the zv6000 at OD to match what I bought from costco (still waiting for delivery). The price was about the same, but it included a double layer DVD and a free printer. The ETA was 12 business days. I asked about the return policy. If the box is opened, they could give me in-store credit. So if I found dead pixels, I could return it, but the sale would be over by then. I guess I'll just wait for the costco delivery and be happy with my single layer DVD.
BTW, I was told that DVD players can not ready Double Layer DVDs. Is that true?

be patient. if hp doesn't have the parts, then there wont be much difference between costco and OD right now. -

Argh, now I see what you meant. I don't know about DVD player decks reading dual layer DVDs. I'd guess that older decks might have problems but newer ones won't, same thing happened when DVD-R's were starting to become popular. My old Sony deck likes DVD-R's but not -RW's. DL blanks are too expensive for me to play with.

Most DVD movies are double layer (9GB) and they haven't given me any problems. I've yet to play with dual-layer DVD-R discs, maybe some older DVD-ROMs have trouble with those? The current drives like the zv6000/R4000 have aren't going to have a problem.

I do not see HP notebooks on Office Deport website. Does OD mean Office Deport?

Yes, it means office depot...However, they only sell Configured to Order notebooks via their two websites Techdepot.com & Computers4Sure.com
The special offers for zv6000 only available in-store.
-
If you'd like some idea of what they're offering via their NUMEROUS Mail-in rebates, swing over to my post at Zv6000forums.com...

so i just configured the same costco zv6000 on their website and this time they have an actual shipping day for 05/16/05. so, hopefully for those of us who ordered them weeks ago, we'll be getting it soon.
-
Hpshopping.com currently states 2 weeks for zv6000 orders (New orders)

btw.. I ordered my ZV6000 on the 26th from hpshopping.com..so I guess I got a ways to go. My order states it will ship on the 25th of May, and 5-7 business days for shipping.

HeXeD,
I agree 100%...You are right on the money...Those who disagree about dvd9 not being the prevalent mainstream standard just don't know.
-
Not all of the OD orders were shipped in a jiffy. My 2 were ordered on 4/16 and still no update in order status as of tonight, 16 days later.
-
w3rd!
I hope you're right about the 2 week thing..and I hope that somehow applies to my order.
I'm currently typing on a:

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this but every movie that is one sided, and contains 9GB of data would HAVE to be Double Layer. In actuality, there is about 8.4 GB of storage on a Double layer DVD. (unless you were referring to DVD-10, which I have personally never seen when reading DVD Movies.) If the comment above was just expressed wrong, and you meant something different, then disregard please.

I'm sorry for any confusion that the statement caused, it was made in haste and I admit I was mistaken.

I decided to go rebuild the system I am getting on hpshopping, and I was completely frustrated when I built the EXACT SAME SYSTEM and it indicated the shipping date to be May 16th. The shipping date for the exact same ZV6000 I ordered is May 25th...so I called up HP.
the rep said he was prettys ure I would be getting my laptop sooner than the 25th but he couldn't gaurantee it. He said that he spoke with someone the same day who built a very similar system, and he got it 1 1/2 weeks before it was supposed to ship.
*keeps fingers crossed* -

I ordered the pre-configured ZV6000 from Costco on 4-17, and it clearly stated that it would take 4 to 6 weeks. Maybe it was just wishful thinking, but based on the experience of the other folks who got theirs within 2 to 3 weeks, I was hoping I would get mine right about now. But after finding out how deep the back-order is at OD and Costco (and looks like at HP, also), that 4 to 6 weeks is sounding more accurate every time I read the posts here[
]. Does anyone know for sure if the pre-configured ZV6000s from Costco has Dual Layer capability? It didn't specifically say so, but just about every other site I've seen says that it is. Not that it matters much since DL DVDs cost about $8 each vs. 40 cents for single layer discs. DL DVDs have a long way to go before they become cost-effective.
To anyone who ordered from Costco. Please sound off if you've gotten yours already and in what condition...as in hopefully no dead pixels[]
-
I'm guessing a lot of these backups have to do with the allotments to each store. Costco had been running their deal long before Office depot, so it makes sense that they are backed up longer. OD only had about a week of orders, which probably filled up their allotment quick, but now are in a similar position as costco. Just my guess.
-
What I don't understand is if HP and all these stores know they are approaching or already at backorder point - why in the [
!] do they keep putting this laptop on special??? Can't they at least catch up before they decide to put the thing on sale again?!
-
I ordered from Costco on 4/14 and am still waiting. Almost 3 weeks down, 1 to 3 to go.
I'm hoping that since our notebooks have not been built yet, that when they do build them, they will be all out of the old stuff and put in all the good stuff, like DL DVD and the 90ns(?) core thing I keep reading about.
I'm not too concerned about dead pixels 'cause I'll have 6 months to play with it and then exchange it for whatever I can get for $1000 at that time. I love Costco! (of course, hopefully there will be no reason to keep shopping.)

they are not double layer, it would've said because right now you can customize it through costco to get dlayer. it also would've been an even greater selling point for them to put that in there; they're not stupid [

i got my notebook on the same day from costco. argh, i just want it so badly. i'll be so happy if it showed up next week friday.

I (was) fairly CERTAIN that all configurable/pre-configured models of the zv6k that have a DVD+/-R are the NEC ND-6500 (DL)...

Yeah, Hp directly also allows a no questions asked 30days from the time you receive your model return policy.
In fact, I just spoke to a CSR there & they said that they will send you a new zv6000 (with the same config.) expedited at no extra charge IF you claim there is ANYTHING the matter w/the one they sent (incl.1 dead pixel)

I have a question, the Costco 6 month return policy is from the date of purchase or delivery?
If its from the date of purchase, I might not get it in time to return it []
-
its the date of purchase
"Effective November 4th, 2002, Costco Wholesales desktop and notebook computer return policy is six-months from the date of purchase. After six-months from the date of purchase, all service and technical support will be subject to the applicable remaining manufacturers' warranty."

not spectacular if it gets shipped to you 6 months later [

-
Spectacular policy none the less!
