I have the problem of having a broken battery that only lasts an hour if lucky, and it gets to 50% sometimes then goes straight to critical 6%, but now a new problem has come as the screen is making a very annoying buzzing sound, this is the last straw with my dv2000 as it is still under guarantee, I will go through the haste of sending it back for repair!!

I know that it is the screen as when I shut the lid and the screen goes off so does the buzzing, do you think they will fix the buzzing screen and flat battery with the standard warrantee? And I don’t seem to have my receipt! If the worst comes to the worst, can I still get the warrantee done without the receipt? Any help, I would be grateful!

They should have a history of your purchase as long as you provide your information. And if I were you I'd ask for a replacement laptop and not for repairs.

do you think they would give a replacement over just a buzzing screen and half dead battery?

its not like the whole thing is broken!?

it is also nearly a year old, so what just phone up and say that i want a replacement, the only real problem that my notebook had out of the factory is that it suffers from heat problems as it gets really hot!

Unlikely, typically replacements are only issued if you have recurring problems on the same issue and sent the notebook in 3 or more times or if the particular problem is not fixable by the service center. In that case they might send you a replacement. If not your best option would be to send it in for repair before the warranty runs out.

Yes that is what i thought, they just don’t send out replacements to anyone unless they really have to!

I had this exact same buzzing screen issue when I purchased my nc8430 over a year ago. I went through the process that's been described above; I sent it in three times for repair. After the third time they replaced it. Each time I sent it in, they replaced the hard drive in order to fix the buzzing screen. If I recall correctly, a little googling shows that the buzzing is typically caused by a transformer problem with the screen backlight, so why the hard drive was replaced 3x is for someone else to figure out. Good luck!

it better not take long for them to send it back to me! as i need it! if they even try repairing the wrong thing, or scratching it, i will not be happy!
