Anyone who has/has ordered the dv8000 series also got the HP backpack to carry it in? I already have a "work" laptop and the professional case (bwahaahaa!) but this dv8000 I ordered is for home and graphics and games and whatever else! Any other carrying case suggestions?

    Mahalo (thanks!)

17" computer backpacks are a little more limited than others. Naturally, it depends on how picky you are about any given design features (e.g. specific number of pockets, etc.). The first that comes to mind are the Targus XL and Targus Toshiba backpack (google them, and check compusa.com and circuitcity.com). If you're willing to drop a little bit more cash, the STM Loop is nicer and less conspicuous. You can check it out here: http://www.radtech.us/Default.aspx .

    HMLintz!

Thanks for that link! I think I WILL get the Loop backpack... red, grey, and black - my favorite hehe. I am sure I can tote around 15 lbs on my back! HAHA. After business admin. studies (management and law and finance textbooks) what would a 17" laptop an some goodies be? :) Thanks again!

    Mahalo (thanks)

Great. Glad to help. My laptop weighs a little over 7 pounds, and I carry it with a few books, a good bit of paper, a 24 oz. water bottle, and other doodads, bringing it up to around 15 pounds usually, every day. I just got a heavily-padded sleeve and put that in my current pack, since I can't find the perfect one (I'd say I've put 100-200 hours into the search, which is really kinda sick).

I read every review in the world before ordering my dv8000t. It was the number keypad that sold me HAHA. I work at a financial institution and I cannot live using the top horizontal row of numbers!

I used to be the base of a 3-tier pyramid stunt back a few years ago in college (yeah, cheerleading, bleh! - the unmentionable past?) So, a nice friendly core duo buddy in a nice backpack should be no problem! ;)

    thanks again!

    Hello,

I'd like to comment on the HP backpack that you can select when ordering the dv8000t. The bottom line is that it is not a good fit. There is no room to spare. When zipped, the laptop corners could be seen protruding from the top of the backpack. If anyone has a different experience with the HP backpack and a 17" laptop, please let me know. Who knows? They may have sent me the wrong one.

I've been carrying my dv8000z around in a Spire Volt XL backpack. It's awfully expensive but very well made. I don't have a notebook sleeve that fits but the hard shell from my previous notebook fits and there's ample room to zip everything up. One of these days I'll get around to ordering a new sleeve and shell insert (they have different sized sleeves/shells, the hard shells velcro in place).

    Hi Brian,

Is it troublesome to go around everywhere at train and at work desk at the office with the big backpack?

how about the brick? I hope it's not that big and heavy

Yes, the backpack is expensive, $165. But it seems to be durable and longlasing...

    mahalo!

I order the HP 17 inch backpack from HP but the notebook would not fit in the bag. I called to return the bag and the Customer Service Rep told me that if I bought (50) CDR for 19.99 I could keep the backpack and they would refund my 49.99 I paid for the bag. I told her 19.99 was too high for 50 CDR. She then offered 50 DVD-R for 19.99 and I told her okay. When she checked the DVD inventory HP did not have any in stock. She then said just keep the backpack and she would refund my 49.99.

I guess HP didn't think to much of the backpack either. I gave the bag to my wife's Church.
