I ordered my HP dv6t quad custom today 7/30. after entering the coupon code I was given a buy now price of 1179.66 after tax and shipping. I clicked buy now and after processing my invoice showed up and I was charged 1417.74. I called HP and asked what gives? they offered me a 130 credit to my order. Really? I purchased the computer for 1179.66 and they need to credit me 238.08. turns out they do not care about principles or ethics and I had to cancel my order.
Just want to get the word out, if they run their company like this and treat customers like this one can only assume that this is how you will be treated after the purchase.

What coupon code? Was that coupon valid on the day of your order and the country of delivery?
Without those details, well, it's hard to take your post seriously...... -
Jeez, I bought a dv6z, got the full coupon discount AND, when the base price went down a few days later, they credited me with the difference...
no complaints here and this was just a few days ago. Can we get some more details?

i actually went through the same thing. after spending an hour on the phone being transfered from one person to the next, i finally got the credit.

Usually the price is shown prior to submitting the order. You should've noticed the difference in price.

You should have gotten a confirmation e-mail after you ordered. Mine was exactly the same price I ordered mine for. In fact, they credited me more money (the difference) after the 33% coupon came out the next day.

I actually encountered the same thing when ordering my dm1z yesterday. I entered the coupon code and received my discount. At the end of the transaction I opted to upgrade from free shipping to 2 days, at this point my cart refreshed and I noticed it was considerably higher than it had been. After going back and re-entering the coupon code the price then adjusted back to what was correct and expected. It would have been very easy to have missed this thinking that portion of the transaction was put to bed.
Maybe it was a glitch, but it further convinces me those types of "glitches" are being built in to cause such a trip up on the consumer's end. If we call and fight tooth and nail to get it fixed so be it. However, these companies are banking on us not having the time or fortitude to follow up. Consequently, they lured us in with the promotion, got the sale, then made their original mark up in the end by putting the onus back on the consumer to catch it or call customer service. -
No offense, but I blame you for this.
Why? Because as most people who use a coupon find out, the coupon code needs to be re-entered before you click submit on your credit card details.
Maybe now you learned the lesson - always check the numbers before you click submit. -
Maybe it's shady programming, but you really shouldn't be blazing through the screens when you're dropping 1k+.
