Free memory and hard drive upgrade removed. Free DVD R/RW upgrade in place. Overall price increased after this change. Free memory and hard drive upgrade was better than DVD R/RW upgrade.
Good thing i won't have to call HP and ask for a credit .... again. :)

Hp will do this many times during the summer and early autumn - the most intensive laptop buying season

This is what happened a month ago. DVD upgrade, and then next day, poof free ram and hard drive upgrade gone.

The free ram and hard drive upgrade will probably be up again in a few weeks, but the DVD upgrade will be gone.

interesting. Sometimes waiting out, bites you. But with the coming technologies, the prices can only come down next time.

Make sure you use the APP option if you are a student. I got $90 off my dv6000z.

I should have bought mine a week ago. I need a laptop by the 17th of Aug, do u think I should go ahead and order it now, or wait a little longer? Also how easy is it to get reimbursed, if the price drops within 30 days?

Its pretty easy just call and let them know that the price had dropped and you wanted the difference. They will refund it to your account within a few days.
