Hi guys, im daniele from italy, i have a big problem on compaq cq56-105sl...is not very fast notebook :(. in office the notebook is with AMD and i try to overclock the cpu with a software (but i dont remember the name). Its possible i make a big error  . however, two days after the notebook reboot automatically and on bios compare a message where tell me the fan dont work (infact the fan dont work). so , is hardware or software problem? its a really big question :). im really stupid because i dont think soon to try with a bios or something similar. i would like to test the fan (for understand is problem fan or mainboard) and i started to open the notebook but i take off all the screw and i cant open the notebook fine. its like i missing a screw in the middle of the notebook. i cant take off all the keyboard and its impossibile work in this condition. Can you help me? you think i must search a file bios and i fix all??

    Thanks in advance
    Daniele

Here is the PDF manual for CQ56- 100 series. Its in English. You might find one in Italian there? Although when I look at languages at HP in Italian they don't offer this manual.
    http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02657369/c02657369.pdf

Page 47 shows how to remove the keyboard. It shows how to remove everything.

If you open your laptop there is a power wire for the fan. Check that is still plugged in.

I assume you can still use it? I don't understand when you say the BIOS tells you the fan don't work. Are you talking about inside the BIOS itself where it says something about Fan Always On/Off?

Does your fan stay off until its hot enough to come on? It might not be broken, just cold. Leave it to warm up. See if it spins then.

To get that sofware off and reverse any change I would do a System Restore to an earlier date.
Or if worse comes to worse to a full Recovery, reinstalls everything back to when it was new. You need to back up anything you want to keep such as photos when you do a Recovery.

Hi Nilst thanks for reply, the problem was the notebook dont start and the fan too. however i open the notebook and i take off the cable of the fan to test directly with a 5v power...fan work. so i take off the battery of the bios and i riassemble everything (some screw no :)) ....the notebook Works!! i dont know the really problem but work. however have you got a system restore??
