Someone on this forum mentioned that a new coupon from HP can be used on an order that was placed within 30 days of that coupon being introduced. Does anyone know if this is true? (I called and they wouldn't take it)

I don't know about 30 days but you could try. I got them to honor a 10% difference when I ordered my laptop with a 20% off coupon and when I got it they released a 30% coupon and they refunded me the 10% difference. I was within the 11 day return period and called HP and told them I would return the laptop and re-order if they did not honor it (I did this in a VERY nice manner, don't be rude). So if you are within the 11 day return period you shouldnt have any problem, but after that they may not honor it....you could try though.

If the coupon expires, then it expired. That means that it will no longer be accepted. Now if you order your laptop and within 21 days a new coupon comes out which would make the price of your laptop go down, you can always call and ask them to give you the difference. This does not mean that they will, but you can always try. I kicked and screamed until they gave me 200 dollars back because of a new coupon that they issued one week after I ordered my laptop.

I called them back, armed with their holiday return policy (orders can be returned until Jan 11th). Rather than yield and give me the roughly $40, I got an RMA instead... Doesn't make sense to me, what do they do with the customized computers that are returned this way anyway?

HP sucks, try returning a notebook a couple of times and HP will blackball you from ordering anything online ever again. I cannot even order supplies online, ink etc. My orders get rejected every time.
