Do you guys know if the 500 dollar coupon will reappear again? Tell me if I'm mistaken however I noticed a trend in coupons when i searched it up in the forms.
2006 there was 200 dollar off coupons
2007 there was 30% off coupons
2008 there have been $500 off coupons and not just once but twice already
am I getting my facts wrong or do u think theres some kind of trend? I feel like I should wait a bit until I buy a new computer now

I believe that the $500 coupon has been offered only 1 time this year. What it boils down to buy it when the deal is good for you. Since your concerned about trends, did you notice that base prices don't drop extreme amounts.
In 2006 I paid $1350 after a $250 coupon for the notebookbelow. This was not the latest and greatest by any means if I remember correctly the dv9000z's were already making their way out. Yes the longer you wait the newer technology you get... However, in 2006 a middle of the road laptop from HP is $1,400 and top of the line was over $2,000 compare that todays dv9700t line and prices are exactly the same.

The coupon mostn likely will appear again. I had the same deal with the 30% coupon in December. I waited too long and it was pulled (before the expiration date, told something about a limit of number sold) It was reinstated a week or so later and I ordered mine then for a great savings.
In my opinion it's more about the current model config and offerings. If last year is an indication, they started the year with the dv9000 and came out with the dv9500 in the fall (see these 2 links for PC Mag Editor's Choice awards for both )

Then late Dec or early Jan of 2008 the dv9700 came out. Now the offerings are a little more for a few less dollars. (Changes I'd make is take that 512 video card and not get the fingerprint reader) So, if you want to wait until late summer or fall, a new model might be out. Otherwise it's the same machine with various discounts on upgrades and whatever coupon codes pop up.
