Hey,
According to http://www.xpbargains.com/st_deals.php/HP_coupons.htm, HP has a coupon running for 200$ off of any 999$+ pavillion notebook, but for some reason I can't get it to work... It should work with EPP, right? Does anyone know what's happening?
Thanks

it might be that you need specific specs on in order for it to work :/ and they usually dont reveal what they may be
-
Such as? should I play around with stuff until I get one that works? That sounds like a really inneficient way of running a rebate program... you'll piss off too many customers.

Call them!

I think the $200 "off" reflects the free upgrades (160GB HDD, Lightscribe DVD-RW, webcam, $50 off 2GB RAM) and free shipping. That said, you can get very nice pricing on a DV9000T through HP. Still you're better off buying at Costco, the extras are a bit cheaper plus they have a 90 day return policy and extend the manufacturer warranty to two years.

Actually, I got it to work, got the following for 918$... pretty damn good if I say so myself!

* 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400

Dang, mine cost at least $600 more than that, and my only difference was a larger hard drive and 2 12 cell batteries. Good deal!

Thats a very good deal with the coupon -
Thanks Historian. I went ahead and ordered a pretty nicely equipped laptop for a great price: C2D T7200, Geforce Go 7600, WSXGA+ display, 160gb HDD, Wireless/Bluetooth, Lightscribe, & webcam. Since I already have 2GB of G.Skill PC5300 DDR2 I only took the minimum 512mb.

I just used the coupon this morning, after about an hour on two phone calls and a live chat with HP. At first they said it wouldn't work with APP, then they took that back and said the coupon wasn't in their records so they couldn't give me any information about why it wasn't working. Calling back later, I was unable to use the coupon over the phone, even when they disabled my APP discount. I was only able to use the coupon when I had created a new account, without the APP discount.
My interpretation, though they didn't confirm this: the discount is incompatible with APP, or even with any account which has ever been associated with APP. Also, you have to make sure to capitalize the nb.
On the upside, they gave me 10% off my extended warranty because of the problems I had. -
There is no 12 cell option for the dv9000 that I know of. -
I suppose I should have mentionned this in my earlier post, but I also wasn't able to get the coupon to work with the EPP. I could have saved another 60$ if I had been able to, but it's still a really good price for that machine... I've been waiting to buy for a couple months now, and this is by far the best deal I've come across for the specs I wanted. I actually got more than what I had first planned for it. The free upgrades also combine to reduce the price by a fair margin.
I was patiently waiting for Santa Rosa, but when I saw that price I figured the performance increase I'd get with it wasn't worth the price premium.
Now in a couple weeks I'll be able to get rid of my Thinkpad T22... the thing is solid as a rock and simply won't die, but it's soooo sloooow -
-
I configured one with all the options I wanted for 969....but the tax is killer...Think I'll just get the dv2310us from Amazon for $799 and skip the tax, add more memory later.
