I ordered a dv800t on July 1st and it still has not shipped. I was given a ship by date of the 11th, and still no word. I call them and they told me there is nothing they can do. Now I am really screwed because I ship out to Iraq next monday. And to make it worse, they won't give me a refund until it is delivered and sent back. This so spoils the excitement I had about purchasing this machine. The config was

    2.0 Duo Core
    1680x1050 res screen
    256mb 7600 gpu
    2gb ram
    240gb had drives (2x120)
    dvdrw
    etc.....

I don't even want the thing anymore. I hate HP. I can't believe I sold my macbook pro to get this.

If I were you I'd keep calling and telling them everything you said here, even that you sold your Macbook. Perhaps if you tell them enough times how dissatisfied you are, they'll do something about it. Ideally for them to ship it out faster and to pay for overnight shipping or something.

Laptops delivery requires a signature so if you are not there when the laptop arrives they'll send it back after three attempts. Then you can call and ask for a refund.
    Hope this info helps.

First off, thank you for your service in our country's armed forces.

Sorry to hear about the laptop not making it to you in time. Keep calling them and ask to talk with a supervisor. I usually get somewhere with a supervisor.

I know that I can get a refund if I refuse delivery, the problem is by the time that happens I will be kicking up sand in sunny iraq! I won't have my refund in time to go buy another laptop. They upgraded it to 2-day shipping at no extra charge, but it still takes 48 hours to clear customs.

That sucks man. Still I don't see why they couldn't cancel your order.
Anyways, I hope everything works out good for you and good luck in Iraq.

Well, I have decided that the best way to show my anger is by not giving them my money. After a 5th call today I was told that my unit had shipped and I was given a tracking number that is bogus. I have decided to have a friend go to my apartment and refuse delivery which will result in a refund. The bad thing is that I now have to deploy without a notebook.

HP is the only company I no of that charges you for the notebook when it is ordered . Most major companies charge your credit card when it is shipped. Hp sucks in that area and they cannot cancel the order like most other companies would. This guy is serving our country and HP cannot cancel his order, Shame on HP , I have bought several Hp laptops and would never by from HP. I bye hp products from costco.

That's unforunate. If you still want a notebook, you have the choice of going into a real store and purchasing it on the spot...
