I don't think there is a HP order/customer service thread like the one for dell so I though this would be the most appropriate place to put this.

I recently returned my pavilion laptop to get repaired, and everything went well
(I was actually surprised because it was my first time dealing with a warranty issue and its completely easy and fast as opposed to what people usually say)
Anyway, I choose to pay a $16 fee to expedite my repair and that went well too. The odd thing is, when I went to look at my bank statement there was two charges from HP. One was the fee but b4 that there was a dollar charge.
This dollar charge was actually on my other card too, which the rep couldn't process.

So is this normal? to have an extra charge that was not mentioned to you? I mean do they charge you a dollar to see if your card works or something? And if so why did the charge go through on the card that they rejected. Or do they charge a $1 fee for placing orders through the phone?

At first I though the rep was shimming $1 from each person he helped, but since the charge is from HP i doubt it

Im not really concerned about loosing a 2 bucks but just in case this isn't normal, I though people should be aware.

Anyway if anyone has a clue to whats going on, i'll love to hear it.
(ohh and sorry for the long-out of place post :))

I think this is normal. HP also did this to a guy who got his HDD replaced. It's just a placeholder charge in case they need to charge you more.
