    HP cutting cost on the cover decal

    MY new notebook only has a silver colored decal in the corner of the lid. Yet the previous versions had a nicer stick-on raised logo.
    Ah well, got to save somewhere when they only sell for $900 each.
    Wonder what the profit margin is on consumer grade notebooks these days?

    Since we're posting random thoughts, my notebook has a service tag on the bottom. I think that might prove useful someday in case I need to contact HP for support. :rolleyes:

    Actually, I consider it an improvement over a stick-on label that has the potential to come unglued, so to speak. On less thing for HP service to be concerned with...

    The HP logo in the new dv series isn't a 'decal.' It's below the Imprint design glossy resin, and probably a metal type material.

    They still do include the raised old style logo in the non-imprint finish(atleast on the Compaq versions). FWIW, I dont think the old style logo will look good with the imprint finish.

    I see no problem with the logo on my DV2000 - I prefer it flat, it looks much more sleek.
