I was one of the only unlucky ones to get a defective webcam in my computer. The camera is not seated properly as it does not perfectly align through the small circle in the frame which leads to having half the image cut of. HP said they could exchange it but I cant as I go to university in a few days. Any self fixes?

Is your dm4t a customized model, or a prebuilt/quick-ship? If it's the latter, just exchange it. They'll have it to you in no time.

pre-built, Talked to tech support they are sending me an external cam. I only have to move the cam up 1/2 cm for it to work perfectly. Just need a way to get in there. Any advice.

You would have to take apart the LCD which isn't a task for beginning laptop DIY'ers

In theory it is simple. Open LCD panel, move cam to correct position, put panel back together. But to do that you'll need to remove the panel from the laptop which will require you to take apart most of the chassis which isn't something thats recommended while still in warranty or something you would do without prior experience
