Dox 182.05 are the best drivers til date. Before this, I was using the 179.48 from nVidia, but they didn't allow me to overclock my 8400M GS.

Trust me, the 182.05 by Dox is the way to go. They finally let me overclock (the 185.20 did too, but those drivers really sucked.)

Because I don't really play games (even though I have a HP HDX18 laptop with the 9600m GT), I just use the HP Vista drivers. HP appear to have tweaked the Powermizer setup so that the downclocking does not go below (IIRC) 275MHz core and 200 MHz memory clock on my rig. This results in fairly smooth Vista Aero peformance at all times.

The nVidia 179.48 drivers also work fine for me except that they downclock (regardless of the Vista power profile used) to something like 169MHz core clock and 100MHz memory clock. Sorry I'm going by memory here. Over time, this results in laggy Aero performance (e.g. Flip3D) unless you tweak the clock speeds through something like Riva Tuner or one of the Powermizer tweaking tools available on the internet.

    Kind regards
