i am new in this forum , and i am having REAL trouble with my HP dv1473EA (dv1000 Family )
i installed Windows Vista Ultimate on this machine (1.86 Pentium m centrino ) , and it is soooo slow

so , i'd like to know how to upgrade my rams (512) to the ultimate (2g or more )

and is it possible to change the graphic card (Intel 915 ) to 945 , is it on sale ????

how the hell could i make this laptop go faster ??? ( cuz i tried to turn some windows features off and registery cleaners and defrag. and the preformance didn't chnange signficantly  !)

The graphics card is integrated onto the motherboard and cannot be upgraded. Plus the Pentium M is not supported by the i945 series. Basically al you can do is upgrade the RAM to 2GB and add a faster HDD(7200rpm). Even then that system wont be able to support full Aero features.

The only choice would be upgrade the motherboard & cpu. But this would also require you to upgrade the memory and HDD as well since the newer versions used DDR2 memory instead of DDR and SATA hard disks instead of PATA. Not worth it IMO.

thnx for the fast reply !! :)
but i am asking how to upgrade RAMS ?? like physically what to do ?? cause there are plenty of screws on the bottom

and is it gonna require a tech guy to upgrade the hard drive ???

and is there any windows aero compitable graphics card from any company (Nvidia , ATI ...etc) that will work without litterally changing everything inside the laptop ???

I have heard that the Intel 915/GMA 900 can run Aero, but only in the Vista beta versions, Intel refuses to provide a driver for it in the final copies of Vista. So thats your only choice if you want Aero.

But I also hear there's programs that can emulate Aero very well on XP and I think Vista too.

Upgrading the memory or the hard drive shouldn't be too much trouble. HP has good service manuals describing the steps necessary...

Unfortunately thats not possible. Laptops aren't really built with upgradability in mind. Everything which can be integrated is integrated & only very few laptops have upgradeable graphics cards.

Intel don't want to release the vista driver to screw up most laptop buyers and force them to buy new ones

and right now there is no way to force windows aero on vista , i don't care about the look , but it also blocks windows dvd maker and windows movie maker from being turned on !!
