I recently bought a dv2, and immediately clean-installed the RC of Windows 7. I tested out YouTube and Hulu HD video, and they both were choppy/unwatchable, which I figured was understandable given the laptop's relatively slow processor and flash's inefficiency. But when I tried h.264/VC-1 HD video, even 720p, I can't get it to run at any decent speed and using the CoreAVC decoder, videos seem to run at full speed, but are garbled beyond recognition and frequently loop a few frames, while the audio plays normally. For a computer that is supposed to run blu-rays, I think this is ridiculous, and I must be doing something wrong, right? If anyone with a dv2 can point me in the right direction, it'd be greatly appreciated. The next step is to restore Vista and see if that fixes my problems, then upgrade back to Seven. But until then, can anyone tell me their setup and results for HD video/Flash HD?

i am playing mkv files at 1080p using mpc-hc and dxva, the processor runs at about 35%, and does not drop a frame, let me know if you need to know the settings for mpc-hc

So you get garbled video when using CoreAVC or DXVA?

CoreAVC--I'm gonna try DXVA and see what happens. I'll report back once I get home and try it out.

I tried with DXVA in both mpc-hc and kmplayer. KM gives me minimal stuttering, but is constantly running in the 80% to 100% range with 1080p video, though its watchable and there's no garbled video. I'd like to try your exact settings, mikebuzz and what driver versions you're using.

ok for dxva to work you need the following

    under playback, output chose evr

as you have coreavc installed you need to make sure that mpc-hc wont use this the play the mkv so under externat filters, add the core filter and chose the option to block, you also need to add any other codes you may have installed

let me know how it goes

Thanks for the suggestion, namaiki. Transfering the load from CPU to the graphics card + CPU undervolting = good battery life.

did this install something? for some reason, I downloaded it but never used it. However, all my streaming videos around the web no longer stutter.

Media Player Classic does not install anything... I wonder what it was that made the difference..

What program is being used to stream the videos?

Make sure the power options is on balance or high performance. Did you install the latest drivers for the GPU? Do a windows update to see if there are drivers for it.
