I have a dv2000, the 6 cell is dead. Anyone reccommend the 9 cell, review, pictures, stats, etc. This is very important, its the only accessory i'll be able to spend.

Wait, i'm not sure if its the 9 cell or 12 cell. I just wanna see people's opinion if its worth it, reviews, does it fit will in backpacks, etc. I'm kinda desperate, and ther aren't many helpful reviews online. I know it raises a bump, so how is it?? etc, etc :)

Its a 12cell, which last about 3-5 hours. It will raise your notebook meaning it might be awkward in bags but its not a big deal.

Just have a look at the photos, its just a bigger battery.

It's a heavier battery and yes will raise the rear of the laptop a little bit. Will fit on a back pack. If you're in between classes and turn off your laptop you can disconnect it. But if you hibernate or sleep the laptop then keep it on all the time. Mine usually last up to 4 hours or a DVD movie with a little bit more power left over afterwards.

alright, is it worth the maybe 70-90 spent on it? Should I get the hp one, or a generic other one, since the generic one seems to have bad reviews on it :/

OK, before anyone flames, I HAVE loooked at pictures, etc. However, those pictures are lighting enhanced, etc. Therefore, i'm asking you guys for a personal opinion on this.

    1. How heavy is it in real life? Yes i know the hp website has a specific number, but relatively, would you feel the weight difference?
    2. I know it sticks out, but i hven't realy seen a good picture of it. How much does it stick out.
    3. MOST IMPORTANT: How annoying is it to use on your lap, since its off centered.

    Thanks :)

    I had a 12-cell on my dv6700t. Which was replaced by a dv5t.

I could say that from experience, it's worth the extra heft. Think of it this way. Stack 2 6-cell batteries together and you get the size of a 12-cell. You have about a 1 inch increase in the back. It makes typing a lot more ergonomic though.

Also, I've noticed a big difference in temperature. It actually lowers the temperature of the notebook because of the good airflow it provides when lifted up.

It does fit awkwardly in the bag and will not fit in those body-gloved notebook bags. But well worth it. I get about 5-6 hours when surfing the internet on balanced setting with the screen brightness at 100%. It's great if you have classes all day.

Should be fine for the cushtop. But after seeing the dv2000 with 12 cell in person, it honestly didn't look too comfy on a lap.

Also, about using it on the lap...it's awkward but doable. I'd suggest getting a lappy accessory. Like that cushtop you're referring to. Just don't get one too thick...remember it raises the back about an inch.

hm....ok, i'm thinking i'll be getting it. I have the xb3000 dock, so i'll just use that with the 6cell, and the 12 cell when moving around.

    Final question:
should i buy a geniune HP battery, or those 3rd party ones. I've heard in genaral bad reviews for 3rd party ones. What do you guys recommend?

Go with the genuine HP batteries.

Quality control will be better than the no brand batteries. You dont want explosions ;)

what is the part number for a 12 cell to fit the dv2000. I have a brand new 12 cell for a dv6000 series. I wonder if it would work. If anyone needs one, send me a message.

    yea, my question too.

I have exactly the dv2416us (in general, the dv2000).

now, i'm looking for the 12 cell extended battery from:

    http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=dv2000+battery&x=0&y=0

For the first result, it says dv2001 (notice the one). dunno if its compatible

second one says "compatible with: HP Special Edition L2000, HP Pavilion dv1000, ze2000, dv4000, dv5000, and Compaq Presario V2000, M2000, V4000, and V5000 series Notebook PCs". So i guess that doesn't work.

3rd one is a 3rd party one. erm...i've heard some quarks about 3rd parties one, but it seems to be havin good reviews. Is this good? Eh..

Or do you have something from somehwere else that is compatible. (You guys say getting from HP is best?)

The 12-cell battery is compatible with the dv2xxx and dv6xxx series. As long as your model is a dv2___ or dv6___ followed by 3 other numbers, it will work.

For example, the battery will work on a
    dv2000, dv2001, dv2002, ... , dv2997, dv2998, and dv2999.
    also
    dv6000, dv6001, dv6002, ... , dv6997, dv6998, and dv6999.
(So your notebook model must be within these range of numbers, as long as it's part of the dv2000, and dv6000 series, it will work.)

And also, it doesn't matter what suffix your notebook ends with. It doesn't affect compatibility.
    Ex. dv2000t, dv2000z, dv2000us, dv2000nr, dv2000se, etc.

did you get the HP 12 cell yet? it is only $104 on amazon (your first link)
pretty good deal since its an HP brand battery that goes for $150

can you post pics with it on, like how much does it really lift off the back end of the notebook and how much more heavy does it make the notebook
