I have a HP dv2000 and the touchpad buttons at the top dont work or maybe I have disabled them without knowing. Perhaps its a problem inside the laptop? Maybe its the drivers.

I have no ideas :( Just someone please help me.

    Also,

The mouse pad goes weird, it jumps all over the place and its really annoying, I just end up using the wireless mini mouse that it comes with, but seeing as I have a laptop there is no room on my lap for the mini mouse :p

So if someone could please help me that would be great :)

Have you tried installing the latest Quick Launch Button drivers from your HP driver page?

You need to provide some more info if you want help with drivers.

    - Do you have a dv2000t or dv2000z (Intel or AMD processor)?

    - What Operating System are you running, Windows XP or Windows Vista?

I am sorry for the extremely long post but your knowledge is so limited I provided more information than normal (I mean this in a friendly way).

If your notebook indicates Intel and Vista you would use the Drivers for the dv2000t with a Vista 32 bit OS (I assume, if you have a sticker on your notebook that says Vista 64 bit the drivers provided below may be incorrect). Vista 32 bit is the most common of the Vista OS's.

For future reference you would enter dv2000t into the Drivers and Support page that 'flipfire' referenced above. When your "Software & Driver downloads" page is displayed you select Vista for your OS and the drivers for your notebook will appear.

The two drivers you are looking for at the moment are below. After clicking on the driver name, download and SAVE (Don't select RUN) it somewhere on your notebook, preferably on your desktop so you can find it easily. You would then click on the downloaded file and follow the install instructions.

Although this is not complicated, but do to your very limited computer experience, I highly recommend you seek assistance from someone with a moderate technical knowledge and experience in these matters.

Also remember that installing these drivers is no guarantee that your problems will be resolved, it is just one step in the debug process. Let us know how everything works out, OK?

    Thanks for your help
It didnt fix the buttons though, but I think its fixed the mouse though or maybe its just me hoping its fixed the mouse and the fact that I want to think that it has lol :p

Buttons still dont work though :( Maybe its a problem inside the computer or is there somewere in the control panel or something were you can disable the buttons or enable them?

There isn't anywhere in control panel that disables the QuickTouch buttons.
There is in Startup, (Start>Run>msconfig>Startup) a startup item for QuickTouch buttons that should be checked but if you reinstalled the drivers that should be OK, but you could check.

Because of your limited technical abilities I don't recommend YOU taking your notebook apart to review the switch wiring.

Depending on how much personal software you have installed you could back it up and restore the notebook to its original factory software state using the F11 recovery feature (or Restore DVD's you should have made) and see if that corrects the problem. If it is a software problem that will correct it. If not, and your notebook is still under warranty, I suggest in your case you use it.

Remember, restoring your computer to factory state will erase ALL your personal data with no way to get it back. If you go this route, copy all your personal data to either removeable media (DVD's, CD's) or an External Drive before you proceed.

I've already tried the system restore to a point when it did work before I posted this thread and that didn't work.
I just tried the start up thing now, and that didn't work. Ill have to take it back to the repairs.

Thank you all for your time :)
