    okay so heres the problem: the screen isn't cracked or anything, it just displayed grey lines over about half the screen. ive tried almost everything. i dont think it is the vid card. from what i know, i think its the screen. the unit(forgot the exact name) behind the glass may be damaged. You guys think this is right? or maybe just the inverter? thanks.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but I dont think there is a DV2000 Inspiron. DV2000 sounds like an HP

    Anyways...if you plug in an external monitor, do you see the lines? Also, the lines happen even before you login into windows right?
