About 2 weeks before my warranty ended (end of January) for my dv2000t, my hard drive failed on me.* I called and they offered to replace it at no charge. They gave me a shipping date of 1/31/08. On that day, I got a voicemail from them saying it's on backorder and that it wouldn't be until 2/14/08 before I'd get it.

That day came around and I didn't get anything. I called them up and they said they have no idea when they'd get a replacement in and that they'd call me when they find out something. They also said there might be a problem since I am *now* out of warranty, even though the original shipment date was before the end of my warranty.

They were supposed to notify a case manager and have them call me. I've heard nothing in 4 days. If they don't have any 120 GB hard drives for the DV2000t in stock, can I make them give me one of higher capacity that they may have in stock?

I'm assuming that if they have it on backorder, there are plenty of people waiting to get the same hard drive for their custom built notebooks. Isn't this just bad business?

What are my options? I've been waiting a month and I'm 4 weeks behind on a lot of my school work and it's hard for me to get to use any other computers.

    Thanks.

Perhaps you can install a new hd until your replacement comes in and do a fresh install of your OS. Other than that, I don't know what you should do.

It sounds like a stall tactic till your warranty runs out.

Kinda seems fishy that HP doesnt have any stock left for a month. Its unbelievable. Get a case manager to handle this and tell him the situation in dissapointment and anger. Make him send you what ever they have in compensation.
