Well, I had pretty much settled on the HP dv2000t, when I got to try an HP at a store. It has such an enormous touchpad that I hit it with the palm of my hand when I type, causing the page to jump around. Has anyone else had this problem? Any chance of a fix?

I believe there is a way to disable it. otherwise, don't worry too much, you'll quickly adjust & learn where things are on a specific laptop and go for/avoid them easily.

Whenever I use someone else's laptop, it's strange because I always go for the trackpoint and 90% of the time there isn't one. :p

Its probably the way you type, I havent had the problem since I dont rest/brush my hands along the palm rest/touchpad area when typing on the keyboard. In any case there is an on/off button right above the touchpad which disables the touchpad so it wont move the cursor around even if your hands brush aganist it when typing.

I have that problem with my dv200t. When I'm typing I usually turn off the touchpad (there's a button right above the touchpad that immediately turns it on or off) and then turn it back on when I go to use the mouse. Since the button is right at the top of the touchpad it really doesn't even slow me down when I go to use it.

If you type a lot, you'll probably get used to the positioning fairly quicly and you'll just avoid moving your palm over that area.

    Hey jadedraverla,

How is your experience with running the Vista premium on this lappy? I mean is the Geforce 7200 capable of supporting the aero glass interface?

Yeah, aero runs fine. The current Nvidia drivers aren't so great and the card isn't that powerful to begin with, though, so gaming isn't the greatest experience, but again aero and DWM work great.
