my dv2500t won`t charge unless i hold tight the power cord at the laptop end.i have to hold it in order to charge if i let go i wont.
my battery is died 2 weeks ago(it keeps saying replace your battery) i am pretty sure the battery is not the problem.
MB failure or power cord fault??
    any ideas???

Pretty common problem with the charging port coming unsoldered from it's separate PCB. I took someones laptop apart and resoldered the port back on and works great still. I would say that the dead battery is probably a separate issue. Fix the port and go from there.
Here's the link to the service manual. Hope this helps.

Re-soldering it is the usual fix, except the dv2500 power connector isnt actually soldered to a PCB. It is actually just socketed to a frame and the other end connects straight to the system board.

Inspect the connector piece and see if you can fix it without replacing it. If not buy a replacement, its quite easy to install.
