    Hey guys
I spent a major part of yesterday trying to burn a couple of DVDs as I am planning to install Windows 7 RC and therefore decided to back up my stuff first.

Now I haven't run DVDs on my notebook for quite sometime. 3-4 DVDs failed and did not burn. This morning I decided to try out running a DVD and it seems it doesn't recognise it. In Vista the loading bar(The green one in My Computer) almost goes till the end and refreshes.

Tried in Ubuntu and the Drive just keeps making weird noises. Remarkably enough CDs work fine. i can burn them too.

What could the possible problem be and what are the possible remedies?
