Hi all - just thought I better warn you not to downgrade your HP DV2799EA Bios to F.13 - mine is now stuck on the BIOS screen and goes no further - HP offer no support as warranty is now void so £800 down the drain![]()
Word of warning to you all!
-
I'm not sure if it has a reset hole like the DV1000, but have you tried pressing that on the underside if it's there on the DV2000 series?
-
Hi - where would I find this reset button? I can't see anything that looksl ike one
-
if u just got it call your credit card company and dispute the charge tell them the product is defective and let them hash it out.
-
Where did you get F.13 for that model?
-
Yeah, where did you get the BIOS because I downgraded to F.13 on my 2700tse and it went fine.....
-
bricked!.. never mess around with flashing. Now you have a £800 paperweight
why did you downgrade it for anyway? -
You are all missing the point. Just dispute with card company and get your money back. tell them the product does not work and the vendor wont give u a refund. these companies are always stickin it to the consumer. turn around is fair play
-
If the laptop was supposed to have a warranty, but HP claims its now void because of the flashing, definitely contact the CC company and dispute the charge.
-
Yeah, whats wrong with flashing? I've flashed my bios twice already. If flashing a bios voids a warranty then HP should not post them on their site. But they do, so yes, you have a legit complaint here. Make sure you tell everyone you flashed per HP's instructions eg... unplugging all devices usb etc... and flashing with AC power on etc...
Flipfire, I found that the newer flash had better fan management and my machine ran a little quieter but at the same time does not heat up any more. Sometimes there are noticable benefits to flashing. But you definitely want to be careful and follow HP's instructions if you do so. -
Could someone explain to this Mac user what flashing the BIOS is and why the OP did this?
What was the purpose (don't worry - not going to do it, just curious) -
Tis OK, no need to reply - I found this that explains why people would do this and the risks taken.
