HP dv3t on campus-how long should this last if I take really good care of it?

My sig has the specs. Will the nvidia chip work well for my entire 4 years? I'm a little worried because the fans are a bit noticeable when I'm only surfing the net and IMing when my notebook is on balanced power. When it's in power save, I know that usually shuts one core down, and it's very quiet. What can I do to ensure these are normal for a 13"?

I'm also worried about the elements on campus affecting this. I bought a North Face Surge backpack to take very good care of the notebook. I plan to shield it from the rain and only take it out when I need it. Do these new HP notebooks have a longer life expectancy than previous models? I hope not to run into severe problems for my entire 4 years in the business school. So, anyone willing to share experiences with HP on campuses, that would help a lot. Thank you!

I've had the dv5t for a year now. No problems at all. Fans do kick in once in a while, but that's cause I have the 9600m GT dedicated card. I brought it with me to campus and carried it everywhere. Not a scratch and never had any problems. Still runs great and battery has kept it's 3 hr. life. I've bumped it on walls and tables while in a thin neoprene HP bag.

If you are worry about its durability, better purchase 4-year Accidental Damage Protection Extended Service Plan for Notebook PC, here

A bit expensive but you can sleep well.

If you feel you need a new notebook at the end of your study, just arrange a good scenario to drop it, they will replace it with the new unit! :) Highly not recommended, especially for a kind student.

That price initially seems expensive, but I see it totally worth it! However, it would only be worth buying if the question I pose is true.

Since the dv3t will almost guaranteed be discontinued in 4 years, and I plan a scenario to provide accidental damage to seek a new notebook, will HP replace my 4 year old dv3t for another dv3t, or a new model 4 years from now?

No one can give you direct answer for now, even Nvidia or HP. Having accidental damage protection will assure you that notebook will be up to your 4th year. I heard Nvidia have learned their mistakes, the new chip should be OK.

About your question, please confirm it with HP and read their term and conditions carefully as this is basically like buying Health Insurance.
