    HP dv4 doesn't wake up

    just bought my wife a new pavilion dv4-1225dx. it goes in to hibernate and won't wake up - anyone run in to that one? if I don't figure it out tomorrow - I'll call HP - thx

    Try taking out the battery and holding the power button for about 10 seconds while the battery is out.

    Then put the battery back on and turn on the computer. See if that works. If it does boot, make sure you update your video card driver to the latest...try hibernation again and see if it has the same problems.

    If what sendmarksmail suggested doesn't work, all I can think of is to try flashing in the latest BIOS from hp.com (if it's not already installed) and possibly installing the latest ATI Catalyst drivers:

    which I'm running on my dv4z.

    I generally use Suspend rather than Hibernate, but both work here. I'd bet on a software problem of some kind. I did uninstall all that Symantec software, haven't trusted them for years.
