Hi!
I've installed XP Proffesional SP3 on my HP dv4-1125nr.
I found drivers to everything besides SOUND CARD.
In my device manager there is 6 unknown devices but only sound doesn't work.
Please help with sound card name or drivers.

That's going to be fun. You need to add the Defcon file from Microsoft to install the IDT drivers. It was a pain...
-
What is Defcon and where I can find it?

Here's an excerpt from another post:
Sound Doesnt install, No Sound After Reboot, Cant Install HDMI audio
-To get bootable sound. I used the devcon.exe hack + autoexec in the statup folder.
-Devcon can be found here
--http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311272
-I made a text file. renamed it to "devcon.bat" & typed this
--devcon.exe restart "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_293E&SUBSYS_30F4103C&REV_03"
-Then I placed the file here
--C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup -
I did so and when I turned on the computer console appeared with message "No devices restarted"
When I try to install IDT drivers error appears:
"ExitError:Error=No device found - run system and configuration again"
There only drivers for Vista on HP site -
Make sure you install MSUAA before the IDT driver. Seem to be a few DV4 users asking about XP, pity no one has started a dedicated thread for this.
There was a BIOS that fixed the audio issues and did not need the devcon hack but 4 BIOS updates later HP still has decided not to incorporate it. May be by making the XP experience that bit more frustrating it will keep more people on Vista, who knows.
I have an old reference to the MSUAA as SP33867.exe, there might be something a lot newer out there though, and for the IDT SP41693.exe
Happy hunting. -
Will you let me know where you found the drivers? I rolled back to Win XP this evening and I am searching for them.
Thanks. -
The only change needed for most DV4's to work is using:
devcon.exe restart "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_293E*"
instead of the whole device descriptor, because the subsys can and may change on every reboot on most dv4's
if using this also fails, try trimming sections from the device identifier. You can try next devcon.exe restart "PCI\VEN_8086*" and if this fails, try devcon.exe restart "PCI\*" -
