well im pretty hyped. My DV4t has finally shipped last night after being stuck in production for 2 days. HP beat their own ETA build day in my case by 5 days. my DV4 right now is in KUNSHAN China. still no delivery date though but it should arrive within a week

maybe we will be recieveing our units on the same day..hoping for a wensday arrival.. i didnt get Express shipping, didnt wanna pay the Extra $55 dollars but hopefully it doesnt take long to arrive. This dell 1300 that im riding on is killing me.. missing keys, broken charger port, 15 minute battery life per charge .. its time for a well deserved HP DV4t

 

I've been using my sisters old HP desktop for the past year

 

ive been using my Dell 1300 since it was awarded to me during my Freshment year of highschool 4 years ago.. i jsut checked the status of my DV4 and its still in china. FedEx needs to get the stepping and import it to the states already.. its been more than 32 hours sinces its last log i hope its on its way to the state side.

 

Maybe our laptops will be on the same plane over here... I live in New Jersey Also it probably didn't leave yet cause the shipping is 5 - 7 business days

Anyway when you install windows 7 on the dv4t you just have to install all the drivers again right?

 

yes thats what i've done on my dv4t everything works great except for one minor thing.

when you use the volume up/down shortcut keys up at the top they still work but they dont make that clickety sound to let you know its working. also i noticed on my second dv4t that using the volume keys also displays a graphic on your screen letting you know your volume status. i cant remember if it did that on my first dv4t before when i had vista on it.

if anyone knows of drivers that can restore these features please let me know.

it did leave..mines says it left the Fed Ex origin location of Kushan at 1:32pm on friday and it hasnt logged another location since then.. im assuming thats the case..either way we should have our DV4ts by mid week

 

On my dv4t, one week old, my driver is 1.3.64.69, dated 12/3/2008. I think I won't update since I'm OK.
In device manager why not try to disable the tuner and then enable it. Maybe it needs a kick in the butt.

 

i have vista-64 bits, and it doesn't show anything on screen when touching the volume pad. I guess is a 64-bits thing.

 

the touch keys do work though right? an do they work well? i heard that the touch on the DV5 didnt work that well and wernt that responsive..hope its not an issue with the dv4t

 

Yay, I just placed my order. I'm happy I was able to wait for the $400 off coupon. I had to make a new account though since you can't use the coupon with the APP discounts. You also have to use either the instant savings or the coupon. Can't wait for it to come!

I saw a video of a guy using the touch buttons on the dv4t and they looked pretty responsive

 

Hey NinaJ where did you find this $400 off coupon? I used one like 2 weeks ago on 5/22/09 but then it expired the next day. I ended up returning the laptop cuz I really hated the espresso black and wanted the laptop in white. They said I couldn't exchange it because the coupon had expired. So now I am just waiting on the $400 off coupon to show up again.

Yeah they work pretty well, it just doesn't show anything on screen. But if you look down to the volume indicator next to the clock, is responding to the touch pad.

 

Yeah, I was looking at my order again, and it saved me $320. So Not the full $400 that I thought, which I'm still happy with though.

I'm not sure how they 'add support' for Vista SP2. I'm already running it and it works fine.

 

ooh man you and i both..every day afterwards i would be glued to the HP site checking on its status and seeing what was the latest.. from the date i ordered it took about 2 days before HP dropped my order to the factory..then it took 3 days for HP to finish the build and then ship it. i ordered june 1st with a build date of june 10th.. my notebook was shipped the 6th and it will be arriving June 11th before 4:30pm.. its in alaska right now..idk whats it doing there. it shipped from Kushan China then traveled to Shangi China and now Anchorage Alaskar. now it needs to travel across the country to New York. HP Beat out their Build date by 5 days so your notebook most likely will ship much earlier than you expect.

 

Mine did the same as yours... except it also made a stop in Japan. These are going to be a long 2 days

I'm going to be checking everyday also. My order was dropped off at the factory today, so hopefully it won't take too long to ship.

 

Anyone having issues with choppy internet video? Youtube, flash, etc. I have had the laptop for a few weeks now and didnt notice it at first because I didnt use the stuff. I tried uninstalling things that I thought would help but that did not work. I even went as far as to restore the laptop to factory settings, but still choppy video.

Playing a single video appears to be ok for a short while, when first played runs smooth, then starts to get worse and then every video runs choppy. I have not been able to pinpoint this at all.

I was running Vista64 tried IE, Firefox. Now running Windows7 and still the problem exists. It has to be some driver or something that I am missing.

 

if it was like mines expect your notebook to be built by friday and possibly shipped too..although if it really were like mines the status would say shipped and say either to Kashuan china or shangi china and not move for the entire weekend and your status wont have an ETA noor details liek the weight an stuff untill monday when they really send it out and process it. hopefully not though cause when i was going through this i was glued to the website all day checking every couple hours to see if the status was updated. Eitherway your DV4 will most likely finish build by the end of the week but it isnt the build wait thats the killer. its the days following shipment that really testes your patience

 

in my experience getting choppy video when you have a system capable of smooth playback generally means your video drivers aren't installed. have you done a fresh install of vista 64? or do you still have the stock os install from hp?

 

OMG Fedex brought my dv4t it to my house today but i was at school and my parents were at work so no one could sign for it!!!! NOOOOOOOoOoOOOO

I might be going to pick it up later if one of my parents want to drive... god i hope so.

Dammit.. man if i were u i woulda slipped into a coma untill the next day.. i probably woulda even skipped school tomorrow just ot wait for it ..my DV4t arrived in new jersey this morning at 1:22AM.. Fedex acted like a bunch of tards and didnt even attempt to deliver it today.. its scheduled to be delivered tomorrow..right after school im heading straight home to open my prized posession and i must say i am HYPED...this is the last night i will be using this Dell 1300.

I think you should do an unboxing. Did you get the moonlight one? If so, I'd like to see pics if it's possible. Mine went into production today. I'm counting down the days.

no unfortunately i got Expresso black. I REALLY like the moonlight white and honestly i cant remember why i got it expresso black. if i could change my mind i would of gotten it moonlight white. many people think its an ugly mac book color but its not its SEXY white HP style.. it isnt the boring plain white that you see on macbooks its SEXY White.. i seen one in person the other day in bestbuy and i fell in love. i Really regret not getting it moonlight white

As everything that you get you always learn something to look for next time you go shopping for that specific product. my learning curve is my next DV pc will be Moonlight white if they still offer it hopefully. dont get me wrong expresso black isnt bad it looks pretty cool but its a no brainer compared to the moonlight white

and since yours went into production today dont be suprised if its ready for shipment on saturday-sunday. although it wont officially ship till monday.. with 5 day shipping (if u got standard) ur looking at a friday ETA arrival..be excited my friend ur DV4t is coming....sooner than u think

 

It was hard deciding what color to choose. I know some people said they hated the design on the espresso one, but I actually kind of liked it, but I decided to get the white. I wanted it to stand out in class.

ya i ordered mine in espresso black. i personally couldn't stand the circle graphics so i sent it back for return. damn, it would have been the perfect notebook if i had just ordered it in white. now the same configuration is like $150 more.

At last i finally got my HP Dv4t today...everything is great and well worth the wait. i was regreting getting the expresso black color but in all reality it isnt bad. i mean it is a fingerprint magnet but besides that its really a great machine..very light yet very powerful and very stylish.. i love it overall. i did make one discovery however that i was unaware of. if you buy the version that does not have the TV tuner you wont get the touch pause, rewind, fastforward, play, stop touch keys. i didnt know this and well ym model doesnt have it although its a minor thing.. right now i only got the power, mute, volume up and down and wifi touch keys.. i still love my DV4 and do not regret it not one bit

 

^Agreed about everything. I'm glad the design on it is more like a mirror than white. Still havn't dual booted Windows 7... not sure if I'm going to because I'm liking Vista a lot so far.

Only bad thing: SO MUCH BLOATWARE

 

I have a new dv4t with TV tuner and it doesn't have the touch keys you mentioned. I don't know what option gives you them. Perhaps they were dropped.

 

The touch keys that you mentioned don't work or they don't light up?

 

i suppose this is the case.. when i first opened up and powered up my DV4 i didnt see the pause,skip,stop,play keys light up and i thought they would after i setup vista and go to the desktop. after they didnt i thought it would be after i set up express media player. after this didnt make them light up i thought once i restart it would.. to my suprised it never did and after further investigation by shinnign aa really bright light directly on the touch pad i discovered theses keys wernt even in the strip yet all the others that did light up were visible...

I spoke to a HP rep which told me it isnt included in the standard editions..that they are only included on selected models such as the DV4s with TV tuner in them.. but now to hear that martyd got his DV4 and are also missing the keys with the TV tuner on his unit i guess its safe to assume its been phased out..

TO answer your question Ninja no they arent included on my DV4 unit idk why it says it has touch keys on the website yet it doesnt disclose that theses keys were ever removed. although when i visited my local bestbuy they had an DV4t Expresso black with theses keys.. idk im going to check the modle next time i got cause mines is a DV4t-1400..msybe they arent included with this model or something...either way the missing keys are only a minor thing. quite a suprised but still a minor thing.. i simply love my DV4t though
