I know the HP dv5t's hard drive is on the left side , but is not located near the palm rest...instead it's near the battery compartment, just below it.

So what is under the left palm rest? Is it the GPU? CPU? Does anyone know? It's pretty hot when in "High Performance" mode, but slightly warm when in "Power Saver" mode.

    Thanks.

I believe that's the wireless card.

I've been reading that the hard drive is placed directly below the left palm rest.

Every DV5T has a small thermonuclear power cell located just under the left palm rest; if the Plutonium 232 (P232) thermal adhesive is not correctly applied, it may become quite uncomfortably warm. I recommend a lead-lined cooler pad to reduce temp and protect your gonads.

Uh, the hard drive in the dv5t is located under the right upper corner of the keyboard where the battery located, which is totally opposite of the left palm rest. anyways, under the left palm rest I beleive is the graphics chip.

Ya I agree with SDreamer, im 90% sure its on the upper right, the lower left is CPU or GPU I believe, you can turn the laptop over and look on the bottom, it clearly indicates which panel covers the hard drive, and its not in the bottom left, the other panels have icons, not all of which I can understand lol..one of em is RAM, dunno the rest..

P.S. Download tools like RMClock and HD Tune to monitor component temps, it might feel too hot but in reality be normal, everyone has a different perception of "hot"...

Watch the CPU temps jump about 10 degrees or more when you switch to High Per.. mode from Power Saver..;-).
