Hey, I am a wanderer of this forum, first time poster. I purchased a dv5t 2-3 weeks ago and have noticed some strange problem with my sound and have yet to find a fix for it. It seems to go into a stand-by mode whenever sound hasn't come out in over 4-5 seconds. Then when a sound is about to come out, the speakers don't kick in for about 1/2 a second (the sound doesn't lag, the speakers just don't kick in). This is a small but rather annoying problem especially when I get intermittent notification sounds that get distorted due to this. I haven't noticed anything on the forums about this and was wondering if anyone could help.

Also, just a side question that I haven't researched, when the HDD LED light (on the left palm rest) turns orange, what does that signify and why does it happen?

    Thanks in advance.

Not sure about the light, and for the sound, yeah some people are experiencing this too. I did, i'm not sure whether it was on my current one or on the one I had before. But the current one I have I don't really notice. Back then I noticed it because when my MSN logged in and I would get email notifications, only the last half was heard. Anyway, I just wanted to say you are not alone.

Thanks, you'd think there'd be instances of the orange light on other dv5ts... Guess not. I thought it had to do with the HDD turning off when I close the lid, but I specifically set that setting not to when I close the lid.

I am almost positive the orange light on the hdd signifies that it has been turned off due to movement...
it only happens when my lappy is on and i walk with it...
it is the fall protection taking effect

Yes, that is exactly when I noticed it! Thank you for clarifying that, though I noticed it did it again when I had closed the lid while it was on my table, no big deal.

Now if only I can figure this sound problem out :/

The Orange light comes on due to the hard disk protection thing on ur laptop.
