I am trying to fix my friend's notebook before she leaves on Tuesday. She says it has been broken for about 1 year. I have checked most components and connections and didn't notice anything. Brand new power cord and adapter. No LEDs or lights, notebook is dead. I need your help bringing it back to life. Any ideas?

GPU died. Common issues with the AMD (Turion) models of that series as well as others.
You can try a mother board bake (yes, it's implies exactly as it sounds). That has the effect of reflowing the solder under the GPU's BGA (ball grid array). Sounds techy but it's a simple enough procedure. Do a search for some videos which detail the process of baking a notebook motherboard with a failed GPU.
Things is, while baking has been a successful procedure more often than not, it's not a permanent fix. Best bet is to get a new notebook. Especially one with an Intel CPU (i3 or i5) which will have a GPU on the CPU. You can pick one up new or used for $500 or less.
Good luck.
