My laptop battery just died and it hasn't even been a year. First, let me state that the battery never held charge well to begin with, when it was new it would hold 1 hour and 40 minutes on the lowest settings with 50% brightness. On Balanced, about 1 hour and 15-20 minutes... That was bearable as I would mostly have it plugged in anyway. Over the course of 8-9 months the battery died completely. Now the battery is unpredictable and barely holds charge for 20 minutes. For example, sometimes it would just turn off within 2-5 minutes on the battery, sometimes it may last as much as 20. Windows tells me to consider replacing the battery, and so does the HP Bios - when i turn the computer on it says it in blue, that I should consider replacing it.

Seeing how the warranty is not over yet, my question is will they cover it? I heard that they had a very limited policy on covering battery issues. How do I go about resolving this issue?

They will be asking for a warranty code that you will get from running their Battery Check test before replacing it. Do call them up.
