I’m working on a laptop that was working perfectly yesterday. Today, the keyboard does not work, and at every boot the onboard keyboard launches.

I’ve reinstalled the drivers from HP site, and also the Recovery Manager’s versions. There is nothing specific to the keyboard, but I did the touchpad and quicklaunch drivers anyhow. It appears that MS provides the keyboard drivers.

The device manager shows no issues.
I’ve rolled the registry back to 3 days and 6 days previous – still no joy.

Booted a Mint USB and the keyboard does work. Also, I booted a Vista HP disk and it showed me enough to see that the keyboard is OK.

I uninstalled the keyboard in the Device Manager, and reboot. Still no help.

I ran a scan with Malwarebytyes, and turned off unneeded startups and Norton.

    Any ideas here?

Never mind. I rolled the registry back to May and now everything is working.

Just what happened will remain a mystery.
