I have HP dv6-4030ca which doesn't boot. I'm sure the bios is the problem because somebody wanted to program it but unfortunately did it with a wrong file. I downloaded the bios from HP's website and when i extract it, it gives me a .bin file. But nothing happens when I program it with the mentioned file.
Does anyone have any suggestion about how i can get a bios file that works?

Unfortunately, changing the BIOS file to an unsupported file type is hard to fix. .bin files can usually be burned to CD, and then used as a boot disk. Try that, let me know.

the notebook doesn't boot. how can I use a boot cd?
it's very frustrating as there is no same problem with dell or asus products and you can easily use the extracted bin or rom file to program the bios. -
As long as your warranty is expired, open up the computer and drain the capacitors and try and pull the on-board battery and see if it boots. BIOS install are serious business, and rarely does it lead to DOA problems unless it's a non-HP supported mod.
Let me know if it helps,

you need to put it into a usb stick and power on, and see if there is any activity after 5-15 minutes.
if the boot block is wiped, which it sounds like this is the case, you could be screwed. if there are no flashes of lights or no power at all (no fan noise etc)
you could try to let the motherboard self recover as above.
I have recovered a dv6 using this method, but this one did power up, but did nothing else. it took like 12 minutes though!

hmm you may need a bios dump from someone, if the .bin isn't working i can't suggest much else
