    Hi,

My 4 month old HP dv6000 (windows xp home) freezes on Start up or at welcome screen when I use the battery, but It starts up fine when connected to the AC.

Also, there are some occasional freezes of 2-5 seconds when using the computer. I heard that Windows uptade have to do something with this.

What do you think causes these problems ? and how to solve them?

Yea I noticed the same thing. It carried over to wall power as well. I finally reformatted my HD and solved the issue.

I've had a similar problem - try this...

click start -> run -> msconfig
    go to Services
    Check "Hide all Microsoft Services"
    then click "Disable All"
    Click ok
Restart on batteries and see if that fixes it.

If it does, then its just a matter of enabling each service one by one until you can narrow down which one was causing the crash.

Let me know how that works - good luck.

If the computer still works after you disable all services, then you don't need them right? If that's the case, I want to disable them so my laptop can start up a little faster.
