Hey,
I have an HP DV6000t (HP - Compaq Pavilion dv6200 CTO) laptop, with the following specs (from crucial memory scan):
Maximum Memory Capacity: 2048MB
Currently Installed Memory: 1GB
Available Memory Slots: 0
Number of Banks: 2
Dual Channel Support: No
CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
CPU Family: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5600 @ 1.83GHz Model 15, Stepping 2
CPU Speed: 1833 MHz
Has anyone been successful in upgrading the memory up to 4 gigs (or even 3 gigs <2GB + 1GB>)?
and also, how big is the difference between pc2-5300 and pc2-5400?
thanks in advance for your input.

The dv6000t has the Intel mobile 945 chipset so it will never be able to use/see 4GB(If you can install 4GB, you should have ~3GB available to use).

I believe your machine has an Intel 945 chipset meaning that you can install 4GB of memory but you will not be able to see or use it all even with a 64-bit OS.
You could just buy a 2GB stick and call it a day.
PC2-5300/5400 are basically the same thing. It's how the manufacturer rounds their numbers up or down.
Example:
667 x 8 = 5336 ~ 5300
Now some companies actually do run their memory at a higher speed such as with Corsair.
675 x 8 = 5400
Edit: Gawh I'm slow. :/ -
thanks for the quick reply guys! im getting a 2x1 GB setup now
