    Hi,

1st post, sorry but just found this web site. I bought a brand new HP dv6220tx and the 6 cell battery has only ever lasted 40min max in all power modes. Is this normal or did I get a dud laptop or battery?

    Cheers

    PK

    How old is the battery?

What power settings are you using?

Is your Wifi on? Brightness setting?

The notebook HP dv6220tx and battery were new when I bought it (Apr 2007) and battery only ever lasted 40 min with wireless off and HP Recommended power plan. It only lasts 20min will max power on. Even today it lasts the same time almost. I was surprised when I bought a brand new laptop the battery life was so short? Maybe I just bought a dud?

Yes most likely a defective battery.

Theres a HP battery check program you can download from the website. Im not sure if it will work for your model though.
